2022 Building Regulations

Part B Part B focuses on fire safety requirements, providing suitable protection for people to escape buildings with the time gained by having provisions in place. Fire rated luminaries are one of these provisions which are designed to slow down the spread of fire between floors. Part C Part C aims to prevent condensation and drafts from penetrating the ceiling cut out around a luminaire. Part C compliant products prevent air and moisture from passing through the fitting. Part E Part E is most commonly required for buildings such as flats, and is aimed to prevent sound from travelling between floors via the ceiling cut out for the luminaire. Products that are Part E compliant are also known as being acoustic rated. Part L Part L outlines the minimum light fitting performance requirements for all commercial and domestic properties. Part P Part P refers to the safe installation of all electrical fittings and lighting, and the inspection, testing and certification of a property. Part P focuses on lighting and electrical fittings being installed safely, and the appropriate testing and certification of a property.
