What IP rating do I need?
Only 12V AC rms or 30V ripple-free DC SELV, transformers must be sited outside Zones 0,1,2. Zone 0 ≥ IPX7 Only 25V AC or 60V DC ripple-free SELV. Where water jets are likely to be used for cleaning purposes in communal baths & showers at least IPX5 is required. Zone 1 ≥ IPX4 Protected by 30mA RCD. Where water jets are likely to be used for cleaning purposes in communal baths & showers at least IPX5 is required. Zone 2 ≥ IPX4 No specific IP rating. Where water jets are likely to be used for cleaning purposes in communal baths & showers at least IPX5 is required. Outside zones 0, 1 & 2
Zone 0
The interior of the pool, bath tub or shower basin.
For showers without a basin, the height of zone 0 is 10cm and its surface extent has the same horizontal extent as zone 1.
Zone 1
Zone 2
This is the three-dimensional space between the following boundaries: Horizontal plane corresponding to the highest fixed shower head or water outlet or the horizontal plane lying 2.25m above the finished floor level. Vertical plane circumscribing the bath tub or shower. Note: For showers without a basin, the limiting vertical plane of zone 1 is at a distance of 1.2m from the centre point of the fixed water outlet on the wall or ceiling.
This is the three-dimensional space between the following boundaries: Horizontal plane: Between the finished floor level and the highest point of either the highest fixed shower head or water outlet or 2.25m above the finished floor level. Vertical plane: The parallel vertical surface that is 60cm from the zone 1 border. Note: For showers without a basin there is no zone 2. An increased zone 1 is provided by the horizontal height of 1.2m.
