Collingwood Catalogue 2024

CRI (colour rendering index)

A value given to the quality of a light source with regards to how accurately it can replicate colours compared to natural daylight. CRI is given as a value out of 100, and is stated as the Rendering Index (Ra). LEDs are generally available with a CRI of between 50Ra and 95Ra, with those in the lower end used for outdoor lighting, and those in the higher end used for professional photography.

It is generally accepted that a CRI of >80Ra is very good and for general indoor lighting, while >90Ra is used in specialised locations, e.g. retail or very high-end hospitality.

RGB vs RGBW

Use RGB products to select vivid red, green or blue schemes or mix the three together for even more colour options.

The addition of a white LED in RGBW products provides the option to create pastel shades and white, in addition to the vivid red, green and blue colours. RGBW can also be run on white, giving you the option of more natural lighting when it is required. Choose from 2700K, 3000K and 4000K.
