Case Study

Falkland House School

The Solution Ansell Lighting and Tridonic worked in partnership to deliver a unified LED and controls approach. Vasco bi-directional luminaires were used in classrooms, supported by additional internal and external fittings including Vision Mini, and Eclipse MultiLED. Tridonic integrated the site into a mesh-based wireless control system, linking OCTO-enabled lighting to a single dashboard for scene-setting, scheduling and efficient operation across both indoor and outdoor areas. The Project Falkland House School—an historic residential school originally built in the 1860s—needed a new lighting and control system that met modern illumination requirements while reducing on-site energy use. The solution also had to respect the building’s heritage status and support the wellbeing of students, including those with sensory sensitivities. The Result The school gained a flexible, energy-conscious lighting scheme that supports different occupancy patterns across classrooms and living areas, reduces unnecessary runtime, and enables dimming and lower output externally to help minimise light pollution and glare. The success of the project has also opened the door for further upgrades across the site using the same efficient lighting and control strategy.
